Texas Holdem Betting – Billings Poker Rooms
Texas Holdem is by far the most popular form of poker played around the world, both online and in casinos. It can be played with as few as two players, and with up to ten. A blind system is designed to generate money to put into the pot and stimulate betting. Most Texas Holdem poker games require players to post blinds or initial bets before any cards are dealt. At poker tables, a round plastic marker called the dealer button is placed in front of the player who would be dealing. The button is moved one seat clockwise after each game, and the card distribution and betting starts to the left of that position. Each player is dealt five cards, two of which are face down and three of which are face up in the center of the table. The two face down cards are called hole cards or pocket cards, while the three face up cards are called community cards or board cards.
The betting procedure goes like this:
Before each player is dealt two hole cards, the player at the immediate left of the button is forced to post the small blind. The player to his left posts the big blind. Each player is then dealt a two card hand. The player at the left of the big blind is first to act and he must either call the big blind’s bet, raise, or fold his hand. The process continues on a clockwise rotation. All the players at the table may call, raise, or fold, depending on their analysis of the game. There are three betting rounds all in all before the showdown occurs. The player with the best five-card poker hand wins the game.
This is how Texas Holdem betting works.
