Online gambling site places odds on American Idol

Online gambling site owners have been quick to move  away from the usual types of bets placed on websites such as an online basketball betting site. This is because according to some industry experts who have been studying an online gambling site or two- reality television bets seems to be overtaking sports in the online gambling site domain.

American Idol is already getting gamblers excited as they choose their favourite contestants. Even though the 2011 edition of the show only started filming last week for television screens, viewers have been quick to go on to an online gambling site to check the betting odds on contestants.

Despite Simon Cowell, Ellen DeGeneres and Kara DioGuardi departing the show this year, American television viewers will still be in for a treat. The new judges for the 2011 show are now other than Steven Tyler, Randy Jackson and Jennifer Lopez.

Even though viewers will have to wait until the autumn to see the show on their television screens and the main gambling sites refraining to publish odds on contestants until that time, there have still been a number of fans picking the contestants they think will win.

Come the autumn, gambling sites will be placing the odds for contestants based on the types of comments the judges will make in the early shows at audition stage.

In previous years, a number of fans who placed their bets at the beginning of the show have been well rewarded. Contestant Kris Allen, was only rated at 10/1 when the live shows were aired on television screens. However, for the fans that placed bets on him at the beginning of the audition shows, they would have been very happy to learn they had placed bets at the higher odds of 60/1.

Deadly Odds

Rest in Peace – Philip O’Connor

How do casino’s calculate thier odds on thier games?

For instance, if I am a casino, and I have a game that pays out $100,000 on a $1 bet, but you have a 1 in 120,000 chance of winning, it is obvious that the house is much better odds in the long run.

What I am wondering is how the house odds (or gamblers odds) are calculated in such an example. Is it 60% for the house for example?

When we talk about poker odds, these are the terms that you’ll often encounter. The outs are the number of cards left in the deck that will improve your hand. Pot odds are the odds that you get when analyzing the current size of the pot against your next call. Bet odds are the odds that you get as a result of evaluating the number of callers to a raise. Implied odds are the odds you are getting after the assumed result of betting for the remainder of the hand.

Among those odds, what the players commonly use are the outs and the pot odds. This means that you are going to get a lot of counting on this aspect. Computing for the odds is as simple dividing numbers. The numerator is the number of outs and the denominator is the number of cards that we have not seen. The answer is the percentage chance of making one of those outs. You will be dividing small numbers by 50 on the preflop, 47 after the flop and 46 after the turn.

For the pot odds, all you have to do is you compare your outs or your chance of winning to the size of the pot. You can say that you have good pot odds if your chance of winning is significantly better than the ratio of the pot size to a bet.

All these odds when can be sometimes confusing but with more practice and understanding how odds are computed it will later on just come out naturally.

Pot Odds In Texas Holdem – Helena Poker Rooms

It is important that you know how to calculate hand odds, poker odds and pot odds so that you won’t have a hard time playing your Texas Holdem hands correctly in difficult situations. Pot odds in Texas Hold’em are the odds you get when analyzing the current size of the pot vs. your next call. If the bet is $1 to you and there is $5 in the pot, you are getting 5-to-1 pot odds.

Pot odds involve computing outs. You compare your outs or your chance of winning to the size of the pot. This process involves counting numbers, specifically division. The numerator is the number of outs and the denominator is the number of cards left not yet seen. The result will be the percentage chance of making one of those outs. If your chance of winning is significantly better than the ratio of the pot size to a bet, then you have good pot odds.

You have bad pot odds if the result is lower. For example, you are in a $5/$10 Texas hold’em game with Queen-Jack facing one opponent on the turn. You have an outside straight draw with a board of 4-6-9 and 10.

And you only have the river card left to make it. If the river is a turns out to be a King or an 8, this will finish the straight for you. That is 8/46 probability or 1/6. If you take a $10 bet you could win $200. $200/$10 is 20. 1/6 is higher than 1/20 so the pot odds suggests that it is good to call.
