I think this is one of the best opening sequences to a tv show ever. It’s smooth, understated and sophisticated, but it still retains enough flair and groove to be memorable and classy. I know a lot of people prefer the old theme song, but this version is better, better as a composition, neater and tighter in it’s execution, bolder in it’s production, it’s more punchy and the bass line provides more of a hook. It is slightly formulaic and typical perhaps – but it’s certainly not cheesy.
