The only exception is in Vegas where the economy is based upon reinventing itself with new casinos (seemingly every week) But most communities cannot accomplish that realistically.

There’s a casino in my town that was built not too long ago. It helped bring in a lot of money to our schools and community, and being that we’re a small town, that helped build our town up quite a bit. Crime is minimal, but that’s for my town. I don’t know if it affects real estate values, but I would think it would, since more people will be looking to move here because of the casino and the jobs that it offers.

The downside is that some people may develop a gambling addiction. But even if this is the case, casinos have their own rehabilitation programs for people with gambling problems to recieve councelling. I had to learn about it during a national diploma in casino operations a few years back. My memory is a bit hazy at the moment.
There are a lot of pros and cons whenever anything new is introduced to a community, but its mainly about “is this going to be better for our town/city”
