it’s delta species. delta species pokemons are different type than they regular type.

it was changed likely to balence the game itself.

you still can get the grass Nindoran. so it adds to stragy since most workable decks have two types only (you can have three and work with it but with the deck limits and what you have to have the right cards).

so in this sense you can have a metal Ninoran and when you find your opponent has resistance you evolve it to a grass Ninodrio or Ninorina and get around it while changing your cards own states.
