Basic Info on Online Gambling in France

Online gambling in France is very limited because the government does not allow for any gambling to take place online except for the horse races. While casino en ligne is not legal, if you live in France and you do not have a French IP address you will still find that it is possible to gamble online to your heart’s content, so long as you have an IP address that is attached to a country where it is legal.

While it is currently illegal to gamble in an online casino in France, there is some evidence to suggest that this will not always be the case.

Casino en Ligne

Many French citizens are frustrated that playing in a casino en ligne is not legal, but the government is struggling with how they can control or maintain the online gambling business. Many countries right now have the same ban on online gambling and that is because they want to have some control over the process, but when you are talking about something as huge as the internet it can be really difficult to control.

Luckily, for French citizens that are interested in the casino en ligne, there is some thought that France will follow in the footsteps of both Italy and the United Kingdom in the future. Both Italy and the United Kingdom once had bans on casino en ligne and after some careful restructuring; they were able to make it so that it is legal to gamble online in these countries.

The countries oversee how the businesses are run and even receive a small percentage of the funds that come from residents of their country.

Because people, in France and from other countries, are still managing to find ways to gamble in the online casino even though it is not legal, it makes sense for the French government as well as other governments to look at the business model that the United Kingdom created to see how they can apply it to their own country. If people are playing with a casino en ligne anyway, why not make it legal and profit from it?

Only time will tell if France will follow in the footsteps of the United Kingdom and Italy. Both of these countries have been able to use the resources that have been going into investigating and arresting individuals for online gambling for better things because the ban has been lifted on online casinos.

It makes sense to oversee the gaming and profit from it, if at all possible, and there is some indication that France is starting to see this way of thinking, which will make millions of French gamblers very excited!

Those in France enjoy all of the same games that are enjoyed around the world. When you play in a casino in France, you will find that they enjoy slots, roulette, blackjack, poker, keno, bingo, and more. If the French would allow for legal online gambling the French citizens that play these games in brick and mortar casinos would definitely enjoy them online, as well.

Online Gambling Basics

Poker, black jack or any other casino game with a real fancy name, any
lay man acquainted with the web knows that these are only a click away.
Online gambling industry today is one with the highest growth rate.
However which site to choose is definitely the biggest problem that one
faces when seriously thinking about gambling online. With sites by the
dozen offering “online gambling” there are other hundred offering you
to start your own site, the scene can get a lot confusing.
Though site offer all traditional card games like poker and black jack
and other casino games like roulette and slot machines, but the roots
of internet gambling still centre around sorts betting and horse racing.
The concept is quite sensible considering that not everyone is
comfortable with the terms and other nitty gritty of various dice
games, while the picking the scores of a super bowl game is relatively
easier.
According to various stats as published in Sports Illustrated sports
betting touched as much as 1 billion $ which is 10 times the figures
placed with traditional Nevada sports books. Betting on horses is also
hugely facilitated by theses sites as while all major races are
broadcasted on major television channels and other programmes cover
highlights of the races, but getting on the tracks can get difficult,
if you do not live in a state where the tracks are located.
While the federal wire act1961 made it illegal to use telephone to
place bets, thus driving the prospective gamblers from other states out
of luck, however the arrival of internet on the horizon changed the
scene.
Popularity gained by poker in the recent years has been another reason
for the success of online gaming in the recent years. Te success of the
Travel Channel’s World Poker Tour program and ESPN’s World Series of
Poker, have pushed other channels also to start airing these shows.
Poker though may easily be the most successful online gamble game but
sites are trying to popularise the real games like black jack and slots
by vigorous advertising which includes bulk email advertising. The
emails sent by Golden Palace.com, one virtual casino offers as much as
58 casino games, meanwhile offering chat rooms and other premium
services.
Interestingly online betting is not the only way to spend money. There
are industry sites such as the River City Group, based in Missouri open
for subscription starting from$245.Those not ready to spend money right
away there are fee software to be downloaded to play poker or other
games. There also are free practise areas to learn and play for free.
However the catch lies in the fact that success in these free areas are
a sure invitation to the real gaming world, where however winning is
not so easy. The odds might be against you but in the world of software
tricksters it’s always easy to make a winning way out. So online
gambling in fact a contest between the owner and the player. But in
either case it’s the winner who gets it all.

What is Really Happening in the Online Gambling Industry?

A highly successful industry and its biggest market are now in a state of confusion as a result of a law which was passed very recently by the U.S. Congress.

“The Internet Gambling Prohibition and Enforcement Act” prohibits all online gambling financial transaction processing in the U.S. market. However a few gambling games apparently remain legal including horse racing and arcade games (fantasy sport).

Many people from the Internet gambling world predict that following the Congress ban, there will be a regulation of gambling on the Web. The idea is to turn online gambling into a mainstream business built on the model of the extremely successful casino firms. While some of the Operators will have to wait and see (most of the public companies do so, like 888.com, Partypoker etc) the others will probably continue there business as usual until the legal framework will stabilize.

A question remains: Is this ban on online gambling affecting the gamblers themselves?

For now the act has made very angry most of the gamblers who argue that this measure is an evasion of privacy and that it is in conflict with basic freedom rights.

Gamblers expect this law to be a step towards a legislation that will protect everyone involved in the industry: the gamblers, the sites, the payment companies and the general public. In USA more than 30 millions people gamble each and every month. Most industry experts predict that most of these people will find a way to continue gambling.

The prohibition of any activity generates a wave of “creative solutions” so that the prohibited activity can continue. In this specific case, it is highly probable that the gamblers will find creative ways to gamble online or not.

The Dubious Immorality of Online Gambling

The recent back-door legislation which outlawed online gambling in the USA has been championed as a moral cause. This is in direct opposition to a Gallup Poll taken earlier this year which found that 60 percent of adults believe gambling is morally acceptable.

Chief sponsor Jim Leach (R-Iowa) has called it one of the most important pieces of family legislation ever considered by lawmakers. Although by his own admission, gambling is not prohibited by either the Bible or the Quran, he sees a pastoral function in the new law, in that it will protect the rapidly-eroding values of family life.

Others see more of a self-promoting political function in the legislation, believing it was intended to gain support from the religious right for Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist if he decides to run for president in 2008.

Gambling in itself is not inherently immoral. Many people enjoy a flutter, spending a small proportion of their leisure money on their chosen sport, whether it be poker, football or horse racing. At this level, it is little more than an innocent pastime.

It can, of course, become an addiction which then has serious consequences. When money earmarked for family welfare is wasted on gambling then it does becomes immoral. But it is no more so than any other activity which diverts money from its intended course.

And if gambling is so immoral, why is Las Vegas still allowed to flourish?

One argument would be that it’s too easy to bet online. The convenience of online gambling is undoubted – that’s part of its attraction. But that convenience lends itself to unparalleled transparency. As all transactions are conducted through credit cards, it’s relatively easy to see who’s betting what and where. It is thus much easier for the industry to monitor activity and set session limits – on how long people play, and how much they lose.

Any number of arguments could be proposed and countered.

But the truth is that this is not about morality. If it was, the hardcore pornography that floods the internet from the USA would have been targeted years ago. Not to mention the illegal piracy market which costs legitimate business millions each year.

This is really a battle between the established land-based US casino industry and the offshore online market.

Given that most online casinos are listed on the UK stock exchange, it’s no wonder the UK government is now pushing for standardised legislation which will essentially give them control over the future of the industry.

The British view is that gambling is a legitimate business and while there are potential problems associated with online gaming, it is better all round for it to be regulated by government.

The US stance on online gambling is a smokescreen. The real reason the legislation was passed was to give control of US gambling back to the established land-based casinos.

But the UK and EU will not change their attitudes towards gambling, so the online gambling industry will continue to grow. Given time, US gamblers will find a way round this dubious legislation, even if it means opening accounts with offshore banks.

Which leads to a very interesting two horse race. The established US casinos, with the implicit consent of their moralising government, will soon launch their own online sites in a bid to take back control of their industry. In the meantime, the UK and EU based casinos will do all they can to entice those US players into defecting.

Who comes out on top is a matter for debate. What isn’t is the fact that this ill-conceived and hypocritical piece of legislation will one day be overturned and consigned to the rubbish bin of history where it undoubtedly belongs.

Hr 5767 and the Future in Usa Based Online Gambling

Ron Paul and Barney Frank introduced bill HR 5767 in order to prohibit the US government to ban online gambling in the United States, this after the introduction of the actual ban itself called the UIGEA (Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act). The bill recently came to vote in the US government and lost. Its aim was to stop this ban and have the US government regulate national gambling, which would in turn generate billions in revenue for the government over the course of a decade.
It is quite shocking and sad to see that the bill did not pass in congress. First of all, the bill would have been a great help to the already damaged US economy as the revenues the government regulation would bring into the government are in the billions over the course of a decade, and that is just the start. Another positive fact is that if the bill were to have passed, the government would be able to successfully, or improve its monitoring on US citizens making bets online, as the current situation clearly states that Americans are still gambling despite the fact that there is a current ban on internet gambling operations, and that the UIGEA law has failed. It is much better for the government to regulate and stop impeding Americans to gamble online than to ban the whole process altogether and fail in the ban itself while not taking in revenues from online gambling operations.
The bill was turned down in part due to the Las Vegas entrepreneurs and operators lobbying the government in order to succeed in the ban due to the reasoning that since Americans will not be able to gamble online, where else than Vegas to make bets, wagers, and have a good time in general, therefore promoting tourism and economic activity in the city.
The future is quite grim after HR 5767 failed to pass as now the ban remains, and Americans will not be able to gamble online, at least for a long time until another bill like this one comes to the senate floor for discussion. It would have been better for the government to lift the ban, and promote the Las Vegas entrepreneurs to compete with each other over the internet than to ban the gambling operation and stop from gaining billions in taxes and earnings from regulation.
In places like most European countries, this type of gambling has become acceptable, and has grown in staggering popularity. Governments take in revenue from online gambling operations, and punters are happy performing bets online in fair regulated markets. USA based casino operators should learn from these already successful methods of gambling operation s and try to promote it in their own country instead of trying to impede it in order to make their clients go in a physical manner to their casinos. It is much cheaper and much more effective to have online virtual portals than to spend billions in physical infrastructure.

Gambling in general has always been a popular activity between people, but now you can also gamble online. These gambling sites have all sorts of games including roulette, black jack, slots and even sports betting where you can play for real money and win real money in the process. Other sites have other things such as “chips” that when accumulated can be used to buy stuff on the site, or to play more games. More likely than not however, if you’re going to be gambling online you’re going to win some real money! Either way please make sure you know your state or country legislative laws before gambling online.

The sheer amount of online gambling sites alone is earth shattering. In the year 2002 as listed in USA Today by equity research firm Bear Stearns was quoted in saying that over 4.5 million people, half of them being people from the United States regularly gamble online. Of course this number has more than doubled in the past six years since that quote was written in USA Today.

If you are going to gamble at a site with real money it’s a good idea to follow these point of criteria:

- Make sure the site is legally licensed

- Payouts are reviewed and certified by an independent auditing firm

- Customer support is responsive

- Accreditation is given by sources such as Safe Bet, and the Interactive Gaming Council

Online gambling sites, gaming sites and sports betting sites, more than likely will allow you to pay with credit card, check, money order, or wire transfer. Although recently sites have also started accepting other forms of payment such as Fire Pay, Net Teller, ACH, 900 Pay and the like. I personally like the ones that have the ACH option because you can take it directly out of your bank account and put it right into your account online. Also, don’t be surprised when signing up for these sites if they ask for you’re driver’s license number, bank account number, credit card number, or social security number. This is just their way of assuring that you are of legal age!

Here are a few gambling, casino and sports betting sites you can check out:

Absolute Poker

Full Tilt Poker (awesome site!)

Doyle’s Room

The Greek

Bingo Knights

Cool Cat Casino

Cirrus Casino

International Slots League

I wish you great luck with finding the right site online for all your gambling needs and I hope you win a whole lot of money in the process!
