Do you know of anyone who has? Are there any compulsive gamblers who have conquered their addiction and still continue to gamble? If so, how did they manage that? If not, how did they stay away from the casinos for good?

It’s like an alcoholic (I guess) when one quits drinking.. They should not go to bars or hang around people who drink.
I choose to gamble and the way I deal with it is.. I plan a gambling event.. Horse races, poker tournament or whatever.. Only take X amount of dollars.. No debt card, checks, credit cards. When that’s gone. I’m done.
My advice is if a person does gamble?? Give yourself a chance. Look at the game your going to play closely. When you win.. Run like a rabbit.. Do not give it back.
I only go to casinos for poker. Never, I mean never online casinos.

EDIT: If you want a real life example take a look at Mike Matasow. He was once a drug and gambling addict. He used to go to gamlers annonymous and now he’s a professional poker player. Anything in life is possible.

some game its not impossible to make a living at, most if not all casino games you will lose the longer you play, so casino games or slots are addictions because its unrealistic to think you can earn a living at these games!
if you are addicted to a casino game – i think its possible to overcome it especially if you can understand how much the math/house/statistics are against you. Casino games arent so much rigged, but they are rigged in that EVERY one of them the longer you play the more likely you will lose NOT win
if you can learn to understand this I do think its possible for someone to understand they cant beat these games and can go to a casino and drop a 20 or so in a machine without necessarily spiraling out of control
if you play a game like poker or sports that have the most people doing it for a living and which its kind of proven some people do make their living playing these games, if you are “addicted” to these games and you cant overcome them and make money and be successful Im not certain you can conquer these and do these normally because you are always going to believe you have the edge and nothing is really going to talk you out of it, games like this you either figure them out and learn how to play and win or you got to leave these games alone, not certain there is a middle ground on games like this!
